Eye on Malaysia

The Eye on Malaysia is a 60-metre (200 ft) tall transportable Ferris wheel that was previously installed at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was relocated to Malacca on November 8, 2008. The wheel comprises 42 gondolas (including 1 VIP gondola) and was unveiled in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 on January 6, 2007 by the Prime Minister at that time, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. Prior to its relocation, the Eye on Malaysia allowed visitors to experience a 360-degree panoramic view of the city centre and over 20 kilometres of its surroundings such as the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the Istana Budaya and the Petronas Twin Towers, during a 12-minute ride.

Fitraco, a leisure equipment leasing company based in Belgium, initiated legal proceedings against MST Ad Suria on Sept 15 2009 to take over the ferris wheel or The Giant Wheel after it failed to repay the loan and it has closed its doors to the public from 9.30am 7 Jan 2010 when lawyers and receivers of Fitraco NV arrived to enforce a Nov 26 injunction granted by the High Court against MST Ad Suria Sdn Bhd and Eye On Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EOM).

Ubudiah Mosque

Masjid Ubudiah is Perak's royal mosque, and is located in the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, Malaysia. It is often regarded as Malaysia's most beautiful mosque. Masjid Ubudiah - ranking high on the list of Malaysia's most beautiful mosques, the Masjid Ubudiah (or Ubudiah Mosque) stands proudly and majestically in Kuala Kangsar, with its golden dome and minarets creating a spellbinding sight, from near and afar. The mosque was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, a government architect who is notably credited for the design of the Ipoh railway station and the Kuala Lumpur railway station.

Built in 1917 during the reign of the 28th Sultan of Perak, Sultan Idris Murshidul'adzam Shah 1, the Masjid Ubudiah is located beside the Royal Mausoleum on Bukit Chandan. It was commissioned on the orders of the Sultan, who vowed that he would build a mosque of great beauty as thanksgiving for recovery from an illness which plagued him in those early days. The construction of the mosque was not without difficulties. Work was interrupted several times, once when two elephants belonging to the sultan's and Raja Chulan were fighting and ran over and damaged the imported Italian marble titles. The mosque was finally completed in late 1917 at a total cost of RM200,000- quite an astronomical figure for those days. It was officially declared open by Sultan Abdul Jalil Karamtullah Shah, successor to Sultan Idris. This imposing structure is now a symbol of great pride to all Muslims in the state of Perak Darul Ridzuan, the Land of Grace.

Malacca, Malaysia

Malacca City is the capital city of the Malaysian state of Malacca. The Seri Negeri, the State Administrative and Development Centre which houses the Chief Minister's Office, the State Secretary's Office and the Legislative Assembly Hall are located in Malacca City. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with George Town of Penang on 7 July 2008.

The city of Malacca is located on both sides of the Malacca River near its fall into the Strait of Malacca. The historic central area of the city is located near the old coastline, includes St Paul's Hill with the ruins of the Portuguese fortress, A Famosa and the Dutch Square on the right (eastern) bank of the river, and the old Chinatown on the left (western) bank. The modern city has grown in all directions from this historic core, including to the south (because the present coastline of the Strait of Malacca is somewhat farther down to the south than its original location due to land reclamation). The "Chinese Hill" (Bukit Cina), where a large old Chinese cemetery is located, was formerly located to the northeast of the town, but now is surrounded by the city on all sides.

This church on the card was built by a Frenchman named Paderi Fabre in1849.
